Karl Rove is on the Run
Karl Rove’s Republican fundraising tour across Texas is well under way. Help us welcome “Bush’s brain” to the Lone Star State by signing this online petition calling on Rove to adhere to congressional subpoenas and testify under oath about his role in using the Department of Justice to advance the Bush Administration’s partisan political agenda that included the firing of nine U.S. Attorneys.
Both the House and Senate Judiciary Committees have voted to hold Rove in contempt of Congress for his refusal to testify about his part in politicizing the Justice Department. Even Senator Arlen Specter-the highest ranking Republican member of the Senate Judiciary Committee-voted to hold Karl Rove in contempt of Congress. And recently, a Bush-appointed federal judge ruled that executive privilege does not exempt Rove from testifying before Congress.
Still, Rove refuses to appear before Congress and answer questions about blatantly political activity taking place at the Justice Department. The public has a right to know about Karl Rove’s involvement in these inappropriate and possibly illegal actions. And when Rove refuses to testify before Congress, he is really expressing his contempt for the American public. He must come clean under oath.
But instead of leveling with the American people, Rove is coming to Houston next week to raise money for Republican candidates.
