With 20 days left until the election, it seems another Republican has joined the long line of corrupt Republicans in county government.
County Attorney Mike Stafford, following in the ethical footsteps of Sheriff Tommy Thomas, County Commissioner Jerry Eversole, and D.A. Chuck Rosenthal, is on the defensive over allegations of improper personal and financial relationships with a female staffer, and using county funds to give raises and reimbursements to favored personnel.

A few days ago, the Houston Chronicle endorsed his Democratic opponent Vince Ryan in this race, citing Ryan’s ability to be an “advocate for the citizenry and a watchdog who can detect and defuse situations before they deteriorate into legal train wrecks.”
Now that Republican Mike Stafford has gone from just sweeping corruption under the rug to actually taking part, it’s clear that we need a real ethical watchdog in Harris County more than ever.

With your help, we can sweep out the old and return Harris County government to the people.
